Frequently Asked Questions
Who may have a funeral at Refuge Church?
Members and Regular Attenders of Refuge Church
When is the church available for funeral services?

Generally, the church is available for a service Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM.

Suggested schedule:

  • Visitation from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
  • Service from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Luncheon from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
Can I have a pastor from another church officiate the service?
A request for a guest pastor must be approved by our lead pastor/member of our elder board, who will verify that the guest pastor holds to the same Biblical beliefs.
What does Refuge Church provide for a funeral service?
  • A 4-hour time slot for: a visitation prior to the service, a service in the worship center, and a gathering after the service for a reception or luncheon to visit with family and friends.
  • Tables, chairs, and tablecloths for a reception or luncheon.
  • Coffee, lemonade, and water.
  • A serving committee to help serve the meal and clean up afterwards.
  • A nursery for small children (family must provide childcare).
How much does it cost to hold a funeral at Refuge?
We want to make this process as smooth as possible for your family. All fees will be communicated to you through the funeral home you have chosen.
What are the food options for a reception after the funeral service?
  • A caterer is required for all funeral receptions that include food service at Refuge Church. Home- cooked or personally prepared meals are not permitted as the primary food service.
  • All food must be fully prepared off-site. Food warmers (provided by the caterer) are permitted for keeping food at temperature. The kitchen may be used for staging, serving, and cleanup only.
  • The family must designate a single point of contact — a family member or trusted representative — to coordinate directly with the caterer. This person should be identified to the church office prior to the event.
How and when do I pay for the service?
The funeral home handles payment arrangements.
What are the standard facility regulations?
  • No alcohol, smoking, or illegal substances in the building or on the premises.
  • Only service animals are allowed inside the building.
